                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 27 July 2010, the following ordinary shares were
transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris 1999 Executive Share Option Scheme:

1,000 shares at 525 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 9,188,398 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 115,816,725.
