Announcement of Court confirmation of Reduction of Capital, Scheme becoming effective and cancellation of admission to trading on AIM

In relation to the recommended all cash offer by Suzano Trading Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. for FuturaGene (which was approved by FuturaGene shareholders on 21 June 2010 and sanctioned by the Court on 8 July 2010), FuturaGene is pleased to announce that the Court confirmed the Reduction of Capital today and that the Court's approval will be delivered to the Registrar of Companies (along with a statement of capital) and registered by the Registrar tomorrow.

Accordingly, once they have been registered the Scheme will become effective in accordance with its terms.  

In an update to the published timetable, the Company has requested that admission of the FuturaGene Shares to trading on AIM be cancelled with effect from 7.00 a.m. on 14 July 2010 and that the FuturaGene Shares remain suspended pending the cancellation.

The consideration due to Scheme Shareholders and holders of Warrants will be sent no later than 14 days after the Effective Date.

Terms defined in the scheme document sent to FuturaGene Shareholders on 28 May 2010 have the same meanings in this announcement.
