                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 25 June 2010, the following ordinary shares were
transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris 1999 Executive Share Option Scheme and the 1996
Executive Share Plan:

2,130 shares at 525 pence per share (1999 Scheme)

700 shares at 525 pence per share (1996 Plan)

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 9,195,898 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 115,809,225.
