                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 18 June 2010, the following ordinary shares were
transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris 1996 Executive Share Plan:

3,000 shares at 498.5 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 9,199,728 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 115,805,395.
