                          Transfer of Treasury Shares                          

Spectris plc announces that on 21 May 2010, the following ordinary shares were
transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option
allotments under the Spectris Savings Related Share Option Scheme, the Spectris
Performance Share Plan and the Spectris 1999 Executive Share Option Scheme:

305 shares at 618 pence per share (SAYE)

495 shares at 5 pence per share (PSP)

1,130 shares at 525 pence per share (99 ESOS)

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares
in issue (excluding the total of 9,203,339 ordinary shares now held in
treasury) is 115,801,784.
