The Merchants Trust PLC ('The Company') announces that, as anticipated in the Annual Financial Report, Sir James Sassoon is today confirmed in his appointment as Chairman of the Company, to take effect following the retirement of Hugh Stevenson as Chairman at the end of the Company's Annual General Meeting today.

As Chairman of the Company, Sir James will no longer sit on the Audit Committee and he will be succeeded as Audit Committee Chairman by Mike McKeon.
