Transaction in own shares

KBC announces that on 4 May 2010, it purchased 2,003,000 of its own ordinary shares of 2.5p each ("Ordinary Shares") in the market at a volume weighted average price of 51.0p per share. The Ordinary Shares purchased will be cancelled.

Following this purchase, KBC will have 55,239,941 Ordinary Shares in issue and no shares in treasury.

The above figure of 55,239,941 may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, KBC under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
