Transaction in own shares

On 26 January 2010 Absolute Return Trust Limited (the 'Company') purchased its own shares at the following price:

Sterling shares     365,000 at £1.199178

These Sterling shares will be cancelled.

Following this purchase and cancellation the Company's issued share capital will consist of the following:

          Sterling shares     215,849,942

          Euro shares         18,749,828

The total number of shares with voting rights in the Company will therefore be 234,599,770.

The above figure (234,599,770) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules. The Company is satisfied that all inside information has previously been notified.
