Appointment of Two Independent Non-Executive Directors

 

  

Dublin, 25 January 2010: Aer Lingus Group plc ("Aer Lingus" or the "Group") today announces the appointment of Montie Brewer and Nicola Shaw as independent, non-executive directors with immediate effect. These two new appointments are part of Aer Lingus' ongoing commitment to best corporate practice and to board refreshment.

Montie Brewer

Montie Brewer is an airline veteran and a recognised industry innovator in airline pricing, sales and distribution strategies. Most recently he was President and CEO of Air Canada, where he successfully implemented many of the changes that are currently underway at Aer Lingus. He is currently a non-executive Director of Allegiant Travel Company, recognised as one of North America's most innovative airline and travel groups. He holds a BA in Business Administration & Transportation Management from Michigan State University.

Nicola Shaw

Nicola Shaw is Director, Bus - UK, Ireland and Germany for FirstGroup plc, the world's leading transport company operating in Europe and North America, and transporting approximately 2.5 billion passengers a year. She previously worked in senior positions in both the UK Strategic Rail Authority and the Office of the Rail Regulator. She was also a transport consultant with Bechtel and Halcrow Fox and holds a BA in Modern History and Economics from Oxford University and an MSc in Transport from MIT.

Montie Brewer is currently a director of Allegiant Travel Company and was a director of Air Canada until April 2009. Nicola Shaw is currently a director of FirstGroup plc.

The Group confirms that Montie Brewer and Nicola Shaw have no further disclosures to make in accordance with Rule 6.6.7 of the Listing Rules of the Irish Stock Exchange and Rule 9.6.13R of the UKLA Listing Rules.
