In accordance with the Disclosure and Transparency Rules (DTR) 5, we have today received a notification from BlackRock, Inc stating that, as at 15 January 2010, they held a notifiable interest of 43,465,008 shares in AMEC plc, which represents 13.10% of the voting rights in the Company. This holding comprises an indirect holding (12.02%) and a CFD holding (1.08%).

The reason for the notification is stated as: "An acquisition or disposal of voting rights".

The notification states that the threshold that has been crossed or reached is that the holding is above 13%.

The notification also states that the chain of controlled undertakings through which the voting rights are effectively held is BlackRock Investment Management (UK) Limited.
