Merger Update

The OFT has on 5 Jan 2010 accepted hold separate undertakings given by Cartonplastgroup Holding S.A and Cartonplast UK Ltd under section 71 of the Enterprise Act 2002.

The undertakings are without prejudice to OFT's ongoing investigation into the completed acquisition by Cartonplastgroup Holding S.A. (Indirectly via its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Cartonplast Trading GMBH and Cartonplast UK Ltd) of certain assets of the Demes business unit of DS Smith Plc.

The text of these undertakings will be placed on the Office of Fair Trading's website at www.oft.gov.uk as soon as is reasonably practicable.
