Aer Lingus, SRT and DAA reach agreement on Line Maintenance services and Hangar 6
Aer Lingus today 17 December 2009 announced that it had reached agreement with SR Technics (SRT) regarding its line maintenance operations at Dublin Airport. As a result of this agreement, a total of 96 former SRT employees will transfer to a newly established Aer Lingus subsidiary (Aer Lingus (Ireland) Limited) and will provide maintenance services on the Aer Lingus fleet.
In addition, Aer Lingus has reached agreement with the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) for a long-term licence on hangar facilities at the airport ("Hangar 6") following the transfer of this hangar from SRT to the DAA. This hangar will facilitate the amalgamation of all Aer Lingus Dublin based maintenance and operational functions into one location, which will allow for a more streamlined and cost effective operation.
Christoph Mueller, Aer Lingus Chief Executive said: "I am satisfied that this is a positive development for Aer Lingus Maintenance that will enable the in-sourcing of Line Maintenance of our own aircraft into the Aer Lingus group on a cost effective basis. The new arrangements for Hangar 6 will allow us to bring under one roof key areas of our operation fostering greater synergies and teamwork. It is yet another example of the transformation underway at Aer Lingus"
