Purchase of Shares by Director

London, 17 December 2009 - The Company was notified on 16 December 2009, that on that date Oliver Baring, Executive Chairman of Mwana Africa PLC, purchased 14,500 ordinary shares at a price of 13p per share. These shares were acquired by Oliver Baring's pension fund. Following this transaction, Oliver Baring's total beneficial interest in the Company increased to 1,347,476 shares.
