DS SMITH PLC NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

Further to the announcement made on 25 June 2009, DS Smith Plc confirms that Jonathan Nicholls has today joined the Board as a non-Executive Director.

As required by the Listing Rules, it is confirmed that there are no changes to the details disclosed on 25 June 2009 pursuant to LR 9.6.13 R (1) to (6) except that Mr Nicholls was appointed as a non-Executive Director of Great Portland Estates plc with effect from 10 July 2009 and as a non-Executive Director of SIG plc with effect from 6 November 2009. Mr Nicholls holds 19,130 shares in the Company.
