POSTING OF SCHEME CIRCULAR 

Further to the announcement issued by Irish Life & Permanent p.l.c. (the Company) on 4 November 2009 in relation to proposals for a new Group holding company (to be called Irish Life & Permanent Group Holdings p.l.c.), to be effected by way of a scheme of arrangement, a  document containing full details of these proposals (the Scheme Circular) together with ancillary documents is being posted to shareholders today.

A copy of the Circular together with the ancillary documents have also been submitted to the Irish Stock Exchange and will shortly be available for inspection at the following address:
