Appointment of Sir Joseph Tauvasa to the Board of New Britain Palm Oil Limited

New Britain Palm Oil Limited (LSE: NBPO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sir Joseph Tauvasa KBE as a director of the Company with effect from 12 November 2009. Sir Joseph joins the Board as an independent non-executive Director. This appointment takes the number of directors of the Company from eight to nine and Sir Joseph will be the fourth independent non-executive director of the Board.

There are no disclosures required pursuant to LR 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in regard to the appointment with the exception that Sir Joseph was a non-executive director on the Board of Ramu Agri-Industries Limited ("RAIL"), a company listed on the Papua New Guinea's Port Moresby Stock Exchange ("POMSoX"). Sir Joseph resigned as a director of RAIL when NBPOL successfully completed its takeover bid for RAIL in 2008. RAIL was subsequently delisted from POMSoX.

Additional notes

Sir Joseph comes from West New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. Sir Joseph held directorships in many companies in Papua New Guinea. He is the current Chairman of South Pacific Brewery Limited. He was a former Chairman of Air Niugini and a former director of Westpac Bank PNG Limited and Lihir Gold Limited. He also served as President of the Institute of National Affairs, President of the PNG Australia Business Council and Chairman of the National Airline Commission.
