AMRAC WINS LEGAL PROCEEDINGS WITH NO FURTHER RIGHT OF APPEAL

In 2008, Amalgamated Racing Limited ("AMRAC") and other defendants including Alphameric successfully defended proceedings in the High Court over allegations that AMRAC had acquired certain of its horse racing media rights in contravention of UK competition law and the EC Treaty.

An appeal lodged by the claimants was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 28 July 2009. The claimants subsequently lodged with the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom an application for leave to appeal the order made by the Court of Appeal.

On 9 November 2009, the Supreme Court refused permission to appeal the order made by the Court of Appeal. This has therefore brought final conclusion to the legal proceedings in favour of AMRAC, Alphameric and the other defendants.
