Transaction in own shares

On 4 November 2009 Absolute Return Trust Limited (the 'Company') purchased its own shares at the following price:

Sterling shares     400,000 at £1.17

These Sterling shares will be cancelled.

Following this purchase and cancellation the Company's issued share capital will consist of the following:

         Sterling shares     216,917,942

         Euro shares          18,749,828

The total number of shares with voting rights in the Company will therefore be 235,667,770.

The above figure (235,667,770) may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules. The Company is satisfied that all inside information has previously been notified.
