PRE-CLOSE TRADING UPDATE

Education Development International plc ('EDI' or 'the Group'), the leading provider of educational qualifications and assessment services, takes the opportunity at the end of its financial year on 30 September 2009 to provide an update on trading 

Continued Strong Trading

The strong rate of growth reported at the interim stage has been maintained over the past six months and the Board expects to report results that will at least meet market expectations which have been revised upward a number of times during the course of the year.  

UK vocational qualifications sales continue to drive growth reflecting new customer wins and a general increase in demand resulting from additional government expenditure in response to the impact of the recession on the labour market. International sales also continue to make good progress and are benefiting from favourable currency exchange rates.

Both main political parties are indicating their strong commitment to good quality vocational education and training. Indeed, this investment of public funds is seen as central to supporting individuals and companies through the economic downturn and to prepare industry and commerce for the recovery.  

The Group's Preliminary Results announcement will be released on 24 November.
