CARPETRIGHT PLC (THE 'COMPANY')

EMPLOYEE BENEFIT TRUST

The Company has received notification from Equity Trust (Jersey) Limited in its capacity as trustee of the Carpetright plc Employee Benefit Trust (the 'Trustee' and the 'Trust' respectively) that 16,500 ordinary shares in the Company have been purchased by the Trustee at a price of £8.67 per share. The Trustee's current holding of 40,043 shares represents 0.059% of the issued share capital of the Company.

The Executive Directors of the Company have an interest in the shares acquired by the Trustee as they are potential beneficiaries of the Trust. The Trust was established to facilitate the operation of the Company's 2004 Long Term Incentive Plan (the 'LTIP') and it is intended that the shares will be used to satisfy awards made under the LTIP.
