Dividend Declaration

INTERIM DIVIDEND

Further to the announcement on 11 August 2009 of the results for the half-year
ended 30 June 2009, the directors of Friends Provident Group plc ("Friends
Provident Group") have recommended that an interim dividend of 1.3 pence per
Friends Provident Group share be paid.

The record date for the dividend is 4 September 2009 and it is expected that
the dividend will be paid on 9 October 2009.
