NWR mourns the passing of Board member Milan Jelinek

New World Resources N.V. ('NWR'), announces that Milan Jelinek, a member of the Board of Directors of NWR, passed away unexpectedly on 16 August 2009, at the age of 77. Mr. Jelinek served as Director of NWR since 2006. Mr. Jelinek also served as a member of the Board of Directors of OKD since 2005.

'We are saddened by the loss of our Board member, Milan Jelinek. NWR was truly fortunate to have been able to draw on Milan's wise counsel and deep knowledge of the coal and coke markets. We have lost a great friend and advisor,' said Mike Salamon, Executive Chairman of NWR's Board of Directors. 'On behalf of all Board members and employees of NWR, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, relatives and friends. Milan will be sorely missed by all of us.'
