Microgen plc (the "Company")

Notifiable Interests

The Company received notice on 21 July 2009 in compliance with the Disclosure
and Transparency Rules from Aberforth Partners LLP confirming that it is
interested in 17,740,977 of the voting rights of these Ordinary Shares
representing 20.43% of the issued share capital of the Company which is
currently 86,830,192 Ordinary Shares. The shares are registered in the name of:

Aberforth Partners has also confirmed that its notification has not been made
as a result of a net sale of shares by clients of Aberforth Partners. Aberforth
Partners clients' total overall financial interest in the Company has not
changed though there has been a reduction in the total number of voting rights
held by Aberforth Partners in the Company.
