Sirius Petroleum plc (AIM: SRSP) today announces that on 24 June 2009, Mike Hirschfield, a director of the Company, purchased 2,875,000 ordinary shares of 0.25p each in the Company ('Ordinary Shares') at a price of 2.41 pence per Ordinary Share.

Following this transaction, Mr Hirschfield is interested in 11,200,000 Ordinary Shares, representing 2.23% of the total issued share capital of the Company.
