NetPlay TV plc (AIM: NPT), the interactive media gaming company, is pleased to announce that Clive William Jones ('Clive') CBE has joined the Company as its Non-Executive Chairman with immediate effect. Martin Higginson will remain as Chief Executive.
Clive, 60, has had a distinguished broadcasting career that started in 1978 when he produced award winning news programmes and documentaries for ITV. He then moved into management firstly as an Editor of TVAM and then as Managing Director of Central Television, and the London News Network. He has held a number of prestigious roles in the media industry such as Chief Executive of both ITV News and Carlton UK Television. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of GMTV and a Non-Executive Director of S4C, as well as Governor of the National Film and Television School.
The appointment further underpins NetPlay's goal to become a leading media business with a difference. The Company is now well positioned to deliver revenue generating programming to broadcasters as well as continue to develop further Internet and mobile games.
Over the past two years the Company has not only developed into a leading gaming company but has proved that live gambling is a sustainable and profitable form of entertainment. Customers are now demanding more and more 'live' gaming products and as such the Company is well positioned to take advantage of this demand.
The recent Ofcom ruling reclassified TV gambling as teleshopping, as well as allowing UK terrestrial broadcasters now to broadcast teleshopping for up to six hours per day. This ruling presents the Company further opportunities to potentially offer its live TV products to wider TV audiences.
