Thorntons notes with regret the fact that Clinton Cards PLC's subsidiary, Birthdays Ltd, which is a trading partner of Thorntons, has been placed into administration. The Board of Thorntons does not expect that the guidance provided on 22 April, in relation to profit before tax for the year to June 2009, will be affected by this development.
