RCG enters Nigerian market with contract wins
RCG Holdings Limited (AIM:RCG, HKSE:802), an international provider of biometric and RFID products and solution services with a primary focus in the Asia Pacific markets, is pleased to announce that following a distribution agreement with Tagged Technology Limited ('Tagged Technology') the Group has successfully entered the Nigerian market.
RCG presented at The First National Biometrics / RFID Security Technology Summit and Exhibition during 23-24 April 2009 in Abuja, Nigeria. The Summit was organised by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Science and Technology together with RCG and Tagged Technology Limited. Its purpose was to promote biometrics and RFID as a means to provide security and improving business efficiency. The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Minister of Science and Technology of Nigeria, the Inspector General of Police of Nigeria, and representatives from RCG, were among the speakers, all advocating the importance of security and how technologies are able to bring improvement and automation to it.
The Summit attracted over 700 participants including Nigerian States Governors, State advisors, and chief security officers, senior representatives from regional banks, telecommunication and national utility companies, as well as other public and private companies. Amongst those in attendance were prominent companies such as Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Power Holdings Company Limited, Union Bank, Intercontinental Bank, the First Bank, Zenith Bank, FIFA Security Committee and White Knight Consulting. The Exhibition featured RCG products and solutions and enabled participants to experience a range of the Group's product offering.
Following a distribution partnership with Tagged Technologies earlier this year, RCG has won contracts to provide biometric access control and employee attendance systems for Sigma Pension, a licensed pension fund administrator in Nigeria and Nigerian Code of Conduct Bureau. The partnership, with government support, has attracted local press supporting government initiatives to step up security measures in its departments through partnership with technology companies such as Tagged Technology and RCG.
Commenting on the launches, Dr. Raymond Chu, Chairman and CEO of RCG Holdings Limited, said: 'I am both pleased and excited about our business expansion into Nigeria, as it will act as a gateway to the Western Africa region.
