British Energy Group plc 

Voting Rights and Capital - Notification in accordance with DTR 5.6.1R of the Transparency Directive

As at 31 January 2009, British Energy Group plc's total issued share capital was 1,607,368,751 shares, comprising 1,036,164,017 (one billion, thirty six million, one hundred and sixty four thousand and seventeen) 10p ordinary shares and 571,204,734 (five hundred and seventy one million, two hundred and four thousand, seven hundred and thirty four) convertible shares.  British Energy Group plc held no ordinary shares in Treasury.

The total number of voting rights attached to shares which are admitted to trading as at 31 January 2009, being the ordinary shares, was 1,036,164,017 (one billion, thirty six million, one hundred and sixty four thousand and seventeen), which may be used as the denominator for calculation by which shareholders determine if they are to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, British Energy Group plc under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
