Taiwan President signs Gaming Bill for Offshore Islands
AMZ Holdings plc is pleased to announce that following the recent passage of the Gaming Bill in the Legislative Yuan, the Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou has formally signed off the amendment.
This is the final executive approval process required and now completes the statutory process for gaming enablement, which is an amendment to the Outer Islands Construction Act permitting gaming on the offshore islands.
The island of Penghu, where the Company owns 27 acres of resort approved property, has already announced that it will be encouraging casino resort development and seeking international casino operators.
The Company believes that it is the largest private owner of property on the island, which took 8 years to assemble, zone and finalise the important International Tourist Resort building approvals.
The recent Bill passed by the legislature mandates that all casinos shall be part of an International Tourism Resort.
Michael Treanor, CEO of AMZ said:
'We are very encouraged by the Presidential approval of the long-awaited gaming legislation, which places Taiwan in the forefront of the new jurisdictions emerging in Asia.
'Penghu is poised to take advantage of this growth in tourism, in a brand new market, and the Company looks forward to utilising its' substantial land asset to maximise value for its' shareholders.'
