Surgical Innovations Group plc ("Surgical" or "the Company") announces that it
received notification on 15 January 2009 that Professor Michael McMahon, a
Non-Executive Director of Surgical, has increased his holding in the Company to
10,368,932 ordinary shares representing 2.77 per cent. of the issued share
capital of the Company.

The increase in Professor McMahon's holding took place as follows:
