ZIRAX secures two new supply agreements in Romania and Azerbaijan together worth USD 1.5 million

Zirax plc ('Zirax' or the 'Company') is pleased to announce it has won two new contracts together worth initially USD 1.5 million, to supply Bucharest City Council with de-icing products and supply PelletOil™ calcium chloride pellets to oil drilling operations in Azerbaijan.

Romania

Under the supply agreement with Bucharest City Council, Zirax will supply to the Romanian capital city 2,000 Metric Tonnes (MT) of de-icing products in winter season 2008-2009. The Bucharest authority has chosen the Zirax calcium chloride based de-icing products because they are more effective and less harmful to the environment than regular de-icing mixtures of rock salt and sand. Last year Zirax’s de-icing products were supplied to Romania for the first time to trial and as a result of this and the successful use of the Company’s de-icing mixtures in Russia over a number of years, the Bucharest City Council has increased the purchase amount for the upcoming winter season.

Azerbaijan

Zirax is also pleased to announce the start of PelletOil™ calcium chloride supply to Azerbaijan. PelletOil™ calcium chloride, Zirax's own brand of anhydrous calcium chloride pellets, is the base for clear brine completion fluids and will be used in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) oilfield, the largest complex of oilfields in Azerbaijan. Total hydrocarbon reserves in the ACG fields are estimated at 500 million tonnes of oil equivalent.
