London: 30 May, 2008: Monterrico announces the appointment of Mr Lan Fusheng as Chairman of the Company, and the resignation of Mr Richard Ralph and Mr Raymond Angus as non-executive directors of the Company, with effect from the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting convened for 2 June 2008.

Commenting on this, Lan Fusheng, the incoming Chairman said: 'I would like to thank Mr. Richard Ralph and Mr. Raymond Angus for their contributions to Monterrico.  I am delighted to join the Board of Monterrico and look forward to contributing to the optimal and timely development of Rio Blanco which I am confident will unlock significant value for shareholders.'

Mr Lan (age 44) is a geologist graduated from Fuzhou University in China and has an MBA from La Trobe University in Australia. He is currently an Executive Director of Zijin Mining Group Co. Ltd.  There is no other information to disclose under Schedule Two, paragraph (g) of the AIM Rules.
