TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

New Star Absolute Return Fund PCC Limited (the 'Company') announces that on 19th May 2008 it purchased the number of shares at the prices set out below; the resulting share capital per class is also set out in the table below

All Growth Shares repurchased as at 19th May 2008 will be held in treasury and all Income Shares repurchased as at 19th May 2008 will be cancelled. This brings the total number of Income and Growth Shares held in treasury to 800,000 and 704,000 respectively.

All shareholders have equal voting rights based on the number of shares held. Accordingly, the total number of voting rights in the Company is 18,828,821 and this figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
