NICHOLS PLC (the 'Company')

Transaction in own shares

Nichols plc announces that on 1 October 2007 it purchased 100,000 ordinary 
shares of 10p each in the Company at a price of 222 pence per share. 
These shares will be held in Treasury.  This purchase equates to approximately 
0.27 per cent of the Company's issued share capital.

Following the purchase, the Company holds 100,000 of its ordinary shares 
in Treasury and has a total of 36,868,772 ordinary shares (excluding shares 
held in Treasury) in issue.
