Bristol & West - transfer of business



Further to the announcement on 6 June 2007 in relation to Bristol & West's
proposed banking business transfer scheme under Part VII of the Financial
Services and Markets Act 2000 (the 'Scheme'), the High Court has set a date of
17 September 2007 for the Court hearing to consider the Scheme. If approved by
the Court, the Scheme is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2007.
Further details about the Scheme will be set out in an explanatory statement to
be made available on Bristol & West's website at www.bristol-west.co.uk/
