Bank of Ireland has announced today the commencement of marketing for an UK
residential mortgage securitisation from its subsidiary Bristol & West plc.

The securitisation, Brunel Residential Mortgage Securitisation No. 1 plc, will
be issued in Sterling, Euros and US Dollars and will be subject to US Private
Placement Rule 144A.

This notice does not constitute an offer of securities for sale in the United
States. Securities may not be offered or sold in the United States absent
registration or exemption from registration. Any offering of securities to be
