Inveresk plc ( 'the Company') announces that on 14 October 2005, the Inveresk
ESOP Trustee Company Ltd purchased 250,000 shares in Inveresk plc (representing
0.17% of the Company's issued share capital) at 18p taking their present holding
in the Company to 7,250,000 shares. This increased shareholding represents to
5.042% of the Company's issued share capital.
